Greek food
Oct. 28th, 2006 08:26 pmWe bought pizza with Gyros, would be curious to try.
Gyros or gyro (IPA: [ˈjɪːɹəʊ]) is a kind of meat roasted on a vertical rotisserie. The Arabic shawarma, the Turkish döner and Mexican tacos al pastor are somewhat similar.

Souvlaki (diminutive of souvla (skewer)) is a popular Greek fast food consisting of small pieces of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer.
For Kalamaki, the meat is cubed into 1-inch chunks. Marinaded overnight in lemon juice and olive oil along with Greek spices such as oregano in a pinch. Then it's skewered on kabobs and broiled over charcoal.
