May. 29th, 2013 11:02 pmHave read 200 pages out of 350 of Logicomix. So far somewhat boring biography of Bertrand Russel with insertions of self-advert for the authors. Reading a wiki article on Russel gives a lot more information and a lot faster.
The failure is not due to the artists who did quite good job in trying to convey this boring script into comics format. It is simply unclear what was the purpose of this huge story-drawing effort and what would be the target audience. Anyone with interest in logic would already know most of it, since the material never goes beyond well know facts, others would probably not be interested. It is also not suitable for young kids who would have been a natural audience for this type of book.
A much better example of educational comics are the books of Larry Gonick.
