I think I've just discovered a curious LJ BUG.

If you want your posts to be invisible to your friends, do the following.

Post a private comment with a date in the future (say a year from now). In order to post all further comments you will have to mark them as "Backdate entry". This makes them disappear from your friends lists.

I've discovered this "feature" by chance by adding myself to my friend list and seeing none of the 3 posts I've written today. How nice.

Update It's not a bug it is a feature.

try reading faq (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=91) next time in search of "bugs".

Thanks for the pointer. However I still don't get it why entry dated with a proper time and date (today) is never shown in friends view.

There is probably some technical reason for doing that, but this "feature" is rather contr-intuitive.

What would be then a proper way to stick a post on top of ones journal?
